Ashen Guardian's Notes is an interactable Quest in Sea of Thieves. They are dropped by defeated Ashen Guardians, a special type of Skeleton Captain mostly roaming alone on Islands. These Notes provide the crew that picks it up with a Treasure Map that leads to an Ashen Chest.
Mechanics[]
Ashen Guardian's Notes Quests can only be acquired from Ashen Guardians and always lead players to the location of a buried Ashen Chest. Ashen Guardians can be found wandering around solo on Islands as Emergent Skeleton Captains or as a part of the second Boss wave of an active Skeleton Fort. In both cases, the defeated Guardian will drop a Villainous Bounty Skull and the Ashen Guardian's Notes (with a small delay). The Notes have to be picked up for the Quest to appear on the Map Radial.
An Emergent Ashen Guardian's Notes give Crews a Riddle Map with 4 Riddles on the closest Large Island, leading to an Ashen Chest.
A Skeleton Fort Ashen Guardian's Notes give crews an X Marks the Spot Map at the same Fort, also leading to an Ashen Chest.
These Notes share the Gray Letter Icon with Skeleton's Orders Quests on the Map Radial generally taking precedence over Voyages.
Trivia[]
When acquired in The Devil's Roar, the Riddle Map will lead players to a Large Island in the Roar, however the Riddle Map model will still be that of a regular map, instead of the burning red Ashen version usually received in the Roar.
Ashen Chests[]
Ashen Chests are Container Chests that can be sold to the Bilge Rats at any Tavern for 10 
, or opened up with an Ashen Key to find Ashen Tomes and various other rewards.
