|Company||The Hunter's Call|
Usage[edit | edit source]
Fishing is one of the main activities of the Hunter's Call. The reputation tab lists the types of Fish and conditions for catching them. Once the Fishing Rod is prepared, the line can be cast out to start fishing, even aboard a moving ship.
When a fish appears, the camera will lock and control will be shifted to the rod. The fish will grab the hook and attempt to flee, the rod must be aimed opposite of the direction of the fish or else the camera will shake and the line snaps. If you are on PC, then the sound of splintering wood will warn you that you are pulling in the wrong direction. The line can be pulled in by a quarter turn after every time the fish switches direction. Once the fish stops struggling, it can be reeled in without risk of the line snapping as well.
If the line is not cast at maximum distance, a caught fish will always pull the line to maximum distance.
Functions[edit | edit source]
To fish, the player needs to equip the Fishing Rod and cast it into a water source. If the float collides with terrain, the line retracts automatically, ending the attempt.
Primary Usecasts and reels the fishing line.
Secondary Useretracts the fishing line.
- Analog controls angle the Fishing Rod during reeling.
Item Radial + Secondary Interactselects available bait.
Secondary Interactinventories the catch, this can be performed by anyone in range of the fishing rod.
Fish[edit | edit source]
There are 10 different types of fish in the game, dependent on location. The caught Fish can be sold to The Hunter's Call in trade for gold. The value of the fish depends on its size (Regular or Trophy) and cookedness. Fish can be cooked on a Stove and sold Raw, Under-cooked, Cooked or Burnt.
Treacherous Plunder[edit | edit source]
In addition to fish, the player also has a low chance to catch different junk items. Despite its name, this plunder is far from treacherous. Treacherous plunder can only be caught without Bait, making Pondie fishing spots ideal for finding these items, because they have a high spawn rate, allowing for quicker recasts. Players know they have Plunder on the Line if after a while, no Fish are appearing and an Item appears on the Hook. The Plunder needs to be reeled in to be picked up. With the exception of Wooden Planks, which can be picked up into the player's Inventory, most of the caught junk items are physical objects that can be picked up and sold. Their main value is to acquire the Hunter of Treacherous Plunder Commendation.
The following Items are possible to be Fished up without Bait:
- Wooden Planks - Resource Item, used to fix damage on Ships
- Old Boot - Sold to The Hunter's Call Representatives for
- Old Hat - Sold to The Hunter's Call Representatives for
- Old Skull - Sold to The Hunter's Call Representatives for
- Fish Bones - Sold to The Hunter's Call Representatives for
- Ashen Key - Sold to Bilge Rats for Ashen Chests.
Bait[edit | edit source]
Some types of fish can only be caught with specific Bait, which are described under the Reputation page for The Hunter's Call. Using bait does not restrict the chance to catch other fish that are able to be caught.
There are currently three types of bait in-game:
- Earthworms - Can be dug from grass
- Grubs - Can be dug from sand
- Leeches - Can be dug from shorelines
