Skeleton's Orders is an interactable Quest Item in Sea of Thieves. These Quests are dropped by various types of Skeleton Bosses. The Quests need to be picked up in order for them to appear at the Map Radial Menu. The main source for Skeleton's Orders Maps is from defeated Emergent Skeleton Captains who provide X Marks the Spot Maps or Riddle Maps to the Crew that picks them up. Skeleton's Orders Quests take players to Islands, uncovering various high-value Treasure Items.
Mechanics
Skeleton's Orders Quests can only be acquired from Emergent Skeleton Captains or Skeleton Fort Boss Skeleton Lords, who drop them when defeated. The Orders have to be picked up by a Crew member for the Quest to appear on the Map Radial Menu. Skeleton's Orders Quests can either give X Marks the Spot Maps or Riddle Maps on nearby Islands.
The most common source for Skeleton's Orders Quests is as drops from Emergent Skeleton Captains who wander around solo on Islands. Emergent Skeleton Captains always drop a Villainous Bounty Skull and Skeleton's Orders (with a small delay).
Skeleton's Orders have their own little gray "letter" icon on the Map Radial Menu, generally taking precedence over Voyages.
The Skeleton Lord bosses of an active Skeleton Fort also drop a Skeleton's Orders map. This map will reveal one X on the same Fort, uncovering a Rag & Bone Crate.
Some time-limited Mercenary Voyages also reward Skeleton's Orders Quests with differing Treasure.
Progressing through Skeleton Order's Riddle Maps or completing Treasure Maps give Emissary Grade Reputation for some Trading Company Emissaries.
Emergent Captain Order's Treasure Pool
The Riddle Map Quest provides Crews with a single Collector's Chest with the following possible contents:
- Gold
- Any Trinkets
- Any Mermaid Gems
- Ritual Skulls
Trivia
- During their introduction with the Fort of the Damned (Raid), which required a Ritual Skull to start, Skeleton's Orders maps always uncovered a single guaranteed Ritual Skull, however Ritual Skulls were removed from their Treasure Pool with the subsequent The Seabound Soul (Content Update).
- The Lost Treasures Update readded Ritual Skulls into Skeleton's Orders quests, but they now have a chance to appear only in Riddle Map Quests.
History
The following Treasure was documented to be unearthed from the Emergent Skeleton Captain Treasure Map Quests. Currently, These Skeleton's Orders only seem to appear as a Riddle Map Quest
