New features[]

Reaper’s Bones Trading Company[]

Main article: Reaper’s Bones

Construction at The Reaper’s Hideout is now complete and is the home for a new Trading Company in the Sea of Thieves - the ‘Reaper’s Bones’. The Reaper’s stand for ‘true piracy’ and seek out and celebrate the toughest, most ruthless pirates on the seas and are willing to promote any pirate who fearlessly battles their way to the Reaper’s Hideout with the most loot to prove themselves worthy of becoming a Reaper. Reapers accept any form of Treasure, including chests, skulls and cargo, and will only accept treasure handed in at The Reaper’s Hideout. Reaper’s Bones progress will be shown in the Reputation menu, alongside new Commendations related to this Trading Company.

Trading Company Ranks[]

With all this treasure on seas, the Trading Companies have expanded their ranks offering further promotion opportunities for loyal pirates! The Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls and Merchant Alliance now allow players to reach Rank 75, and even the Athena’s Fortune allow players to reach Rank 20! (Don’t worry if you are still seeking Pirate Legend Status, this will continue to require Rank 50 in 3 Companies!) With new Promotions, come new rewards! Along with a range of new Titles and Commendations being added to the Trading Companies, players earning promotion can now earn access to the Gold Hoarder, Order of Souls and Merchant Alliance Company Ship Cosmetics in addition to a Company Costume to show your allegiance! With the expansion to Athena’s Fortune, players can now earn access to the Ghost Set Equipment and Weapons if they progress through the new Ranks.

Trading Company Emissaries[]

Trade routes are quiet, and spending is down as paranoia and fear rule the waves, and the Outpost Trading Companies are starting to feel the pinch. The Trading Companies choose to tackle this head on, showing no fear as they strive to build confidence in their traders once more. They’ve established an Emissary service to encourage the bravest pirates to serve and represent their company in the face of recent dangers and will reward these representatives handsomely for successful duty. Each Trading Company representative stands by a new voting table where crews can vote on their Emissary adventures. These also display how many other Emissary ships are currently out on the seas.

Emissary Flags[]

Main article: Emissary Flags

The Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, Merchant Alliance, Athena’s Fortune and even the Reaper’s Bones now offer worthy pirates to become their Emissaries and represent their Company on the seas. Each Trading Company Representative at the Outposts (and Reaper’s Representative at the Hideout) now offer pirates an Emissary Flag for purchase, Gold Hoarder, Order of Souls and Merchant Alliance will offer this at Rank 15, while Athena’s Fortune offer this to all Pirate Legends – Reaper’s Bones however will allow you to become an Emissary from the get go. After purchasing your chosen Emissary Flag, rally your crew and head to the new voting table next to the Trading Company Representatives (Or Reaper’s Shrine hidden on the Outpost) and vote on and begin your adventure!

Emissary Grades[]

Main article: Emissary Grades

Emissaries will start at Grade 1 in each Trading Company and can boost this to a maximum of Grade 5 through various actions that support that Company – such as discovering Treasure, stealing from others or even defeating emergent threats such as Megalodon, Skeleton Ships or Skeleton Forts. Emissaries will receive reward multipliers of increasing size as they hand treasure back to their Trading Company of choice and increase their Emissary Grade.

Emissary Quests[]

Main article: Emissary Quests

Emissaries who reach Grade 5 with the Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, Merchant Alliance or Athena’s Fortune will receive an exclusive high-reward Emissary Quest from Trading Company representatives or the Mysterious Stranger at Outposts. Reaper’s Bones Emissaries can earn Grade progression by defeating other players and crews, although repeat kills on the same players and crews have diminishing returns. Emissaries for the other Trading Companies can also earn Grade progression by defeating The Reaper’s Bones Emissaries.

Emissary Ledger[]

Main article: Emissary Ledger

Players can now find a new Emissary Ledger tab in the Reputation menu which tracks the contributions and standing of each Trading Company’s Emissaries, based on their Emissary Value. Ledgers will reset monthly, and progressing through their Tiers can earn players exclusive Titles and cosmetics.

Arena 2.0[]

Main article: The Arena

The Arena Game Mode will receive a complete overhaul with the following key features:

  • Treasure Maps have been removed and crews will now be fighting over a single Glorious Sea Dog Chest, visible for all to see via a beacon of light.
  • All contest locations have been updated, with reduced sailing distances and only a single cash-in location.
  • Arena contests have now been reduced from 24 minutes to 15 minutes.
  • Players who quit contests too often will now be temporarily suspended from playing in The Arena. While inside The Arena, receiving an invite to a different session will now warn players that this will also count as a quit contest.
  • The Fortune & Glory achievement and the Seeker of Silvered Loot, Keeper of Silvered Loot and Treacherous Sea Dog Commendations have all been rebalanced in line with the improved Arena experience.

Player Reviving[]

Main article: Reviving

Player Pirates will no longer die immediately from fatal damage, giving crewmates a chance to revive them. This wait can be bypassed by players in Adventure Mode by electing to ‘Offer Your Soul’ to the Ferryman and head straight to the Ferry of the Damned.

New items[]
