NPCs are Non-Playable Characters in The Sea of Thieves. They can serve a variety of purposes, such as Shopkeepers, Trading Company representative, and also as part of Quests and Tall Tales.

- The first letter of every Outpost NPC's name corresponds to the first letter of their profession, making it easy to tell who to deliver Cargo to. For example, The Tavernkeep's name starts with T, Weaponsmith's name with W, Gold Hoarder Representative's with H, etc.
- In the Sea of Thieves Roleplaying Game, NPC is an abbreviation for "Non-Pirate Character".
