After The Hungering Deep, Merrick found new purpose with his wife Serik, and together they formed a company dedicated to fishing and hunting. The company is operated by 8 members of Merrick's family; they are self-sufficient, preferring the independence of seaposts over the civilized outposts.

Reputation[edit | edit source]
Reputation is used to progress through the Promotions of The Hunter's Call. Unlike the other Companies in Adventure mode, The Hunter's Call does not offer voyages. Instead, reputation is mainly acquired by selling either Fish or Treacherous Plunder that can be caught using the Fishing Rod or meat gained from killing both land and sea Creatures. Both meat and fish can be cooked on a Stove to gain more reputation or money. Stoves are found on all Ships, Outposts and larger islands. All the fish have different rarities, with the rarest types fetching a price ten times of the more regular varieties. There are larger, Trophy versions of each fish, which are harder to catch, take a longer time to cook, but also fetch a better price and reputation increase from the Hunter's Call merchants. As of the Anniversary Update, fish and meat of all types, rarities and cooking stages can be found in the barrels found in Shipwrecks, making them a valuable source for Hunter's Call reputation and commendations.
The Hunter's Call Promotions are one of the leveling paths in Sea of Thieves. They are available when the player has reached a minimum The Hunter's Call level, which is unlocked by paying a certain amount of Gold.
New The Hunter's Call levels can be obtained by selling Fish, Meat or Treacherous loot. Unlike the other Companies, The Hunter's Call does not offer upgrades for two specific items on promotions, but offers different items from the Killer Whale set instead, including ship pieces.
