Emergent Skeleton Captains always have 500 Health. Every Island has a determined spot where idle Captains move to. Emergent Skeleton Captains can spawn as regular Skeleton Captains or as Ashen Captains. Emergent Skeleton Captains always drop a Villainous Bounty Skull with a special Quest that depends on the type of the Captain. Emergent Skeleton Captains will always drop 2-4 Gold Pouches on death. Killing Emergent Skeleton Captains and progressing through their Quests gives Emissary Grade Reputation for some Trading Company Emissaries.

Types of Emergent Skeleton Captains[]

Regular Skeleton Captains[]

These Emergent Skeleton Captains are randomly named like any other Skeleton Captain and will always drop a Villainous Bounty Skull and a Skeleton’s Orders Quest. When picked up, the Quest provides the crew with a specially marked Treasure Map, which uncovers various high-value Treasure. The Riddle Map Quest provides Crews with a single Collector's Chest with the following possible contents:

Ashen Guardians[]

Some Emergent Skeletons Captains appear as glowing-red with cinders and are named Ashen Guardians. Ashen Guardians drop a Villainous Bounty Skull and Ashen Guardian's Notes. When picked up, the Notes provide the crew with a marked Riddle Map, which leads players to a nearby Large Island with an Ashen Chest. These Chests can be opened with Ashen Keys that are dropped by Ashen Key Masters.

Ashen Key Masters[]

Ashen Key Masters are visually and mechanically identical to Ashen Guardians. The only difference lies between their name and their drops. An Ashen Key Master drops a Villainous Bounty Skull and an Ashen Key which can be used to unlock an Ashen Chest.
