Emergent Skeleton Captains
|Emergent Skeleton Captains|
Mechanics[edit | edit source]
Emergent Skeleton Captains are found alone on Islands, most commonly roaming the shorelines before setting foot on land, however Captains have also been reported to spawn on players on the Island. Emergent Skeleton Captains always have 500 Health. Every Island has a determined spot where idle Captains move to. Emergent Skeleton Captains can spawn as regular Skeleton Captains or as Ashen Captains. Emergent Skeleton Captains always drop a Villainous Bounty Skull with a special Quest that depends on the type of the Captain. Killing Emergent Skeleton Captains and progressing through their Quests gives Emissary Grade Reputation for some Trading Company Emissaries.
Types of Emergent Skeleton Captains[edit | edit source]
Regular Skeleton Captains[edit | edit source]
These Emergent Skeleton Captains are randomly named like any other Skeleton Captain and will always drop a Villainous Bounty Skull and a Skeleton’s Orders Quest. When picked up, the Quest provides the crew with a specially marked Treasure Map, which uncovers various high-value Treasure. These Captains used to be of any type and had the ability to switch Weapons depending on player proximity, but with the introduction of the Ashen Captains, they now only appear as regular Skeleton Captains with one specific Weapon.

Ashen Guardians[edit | edit source]
Some Emergent Skeletons Captains appear as glowing-red with cinders and are named Ashen Guardians. Ashen Guardians drop a Villainous Bounty Skull and Ashen Guardian's Notes. When picked up, the Notes provide the crew with a marked Riddle Map, which leads players to a nearby Large Island with an Ashen Chest. These Chests can be opened with Ashen Keys that are dropped by Ashen Key Masters.
Ashen Key Masters[edit | edit source]
Ashen Key Masters are visually and mechanically identical to Ashen Guardians. The only difference lies between their name and their drops. An Ashen Key Master drops a Villainous Bounty Skull and an Ashen Key Master's Notes. The Notes provide the crew with a Treasure Map with one X on the same Island, uncovering an Ashen Key. These Keys are used to open Ashen Chests that are dropped by Ashen Guardians.
