Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The concertina is a free-reed instrument, in the same general family as accordions and harmonicas.
  • A concertina has the bellows and buttons traveling in the same direction, unlike the accordion.
  • Concertinas were first developed in England and Germany, likely indpendently.
  • Concertinas are well-known in the modern era for tango and polka music, but at one time, it was largely used for classical music and for singing traveling songs - hence its presence on a pirate ship!
