Overview[edit | edit source]

Supply Barrels are Items that can be found all around the Sea of Thieves. Typically pirates can find supply barrels on Outposts, Islands, Shipwrecks. Later updates also introduced barrels that float in the Ocean, marked by a flock of seagulls flying above them. These barrels can appear over previously sunk ships or in open ocean and unlike stationary barrels, can be grabbed and let go with a Harpoon. Like any items left to float, these floating barrels will sink and disappear after a while. Barrels generally contain a mix of either Food, Cannonballs or Wooden Planks.

Ship Barrels[edit | edit source]

Each ship has three types of designated barrels on board: Cannonball, Food and Plank barrels. Every ship type has one Plank Barrel and two Food Barrels. Galleons and Brigantines both have three Cannonball Barrels, whereas the Sloop has just two. Pirates looking to stock up their ships should empty their inventory into the ship barrels and then pick up more supplies from off-ship barrels. Food Barrels can store Fruits, Bait, Fish and Meat. Cannonball Barrels can store either regular or Cursed Cannonballs. Plank barrels currently only store Wooden Planks.

Shipwreck Barrels[edit | edit source]

As of the Anniversary Update, in addition to the regular item pool, the barrels on Shipwrecks can also contain any type of Fish or Meat, making them a good source of Hunter's Call experience.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Barrels used to only limit a supply capacity of 1188, but can now store multiple pages worth of supply.
  • All stationary barrels globally restock their supply every 30 minutes, making it possible to farm different types of fish and meats while fishing next to a Shipwreck!
